The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a novel about Gregor becoming an insect, late to work and the theme of the novel gives is that once in your life change will come to you. Telling how hard it will be to get used to new things that you never face, and you will not understand and so will others until you give it a chance. At one point of the novel, Gregor had a change in his routine when he saw his clock pass seven when he was supposed to catch the train at five o'clock. Thinking of what his boss would do to him and be thinking of calling ill but never had been sick for the past five years. In his thoughts, saying to himself, "He was still hurriedly thinking all this through, unable to decide to get out of the bed, when the clock struck quarter to seven"(Kafka 96). …show more content…

With Gregor racing against time to figure out ways to get off the bed without hitting the hard parquet, before his boss yells at him for being someone he knew would be lazy. During the moment when the main character transforms into an insect vermin, did not think it was real so he went back to sleep. When he tries sleeping on his right, he has problems and lecture to himself "[U]nable to do because he was used to sleeping on his right, and his present state couldn't get into that position"(Kafka 94). An analysis of this quote reveals Gregor trying to sleep in his normal spot, but changing led him to find new ways to be comfortable. That it will not be easy to get used to change being part of you, unless Gregor is willing to try change once.
