Literary Analysis of The Metamorphosis The Metamorphosis, a tail in which Gregor Samsa went to bed as a human and awoke a human sized bug. Depicting Gregor’s family dynamics, and the gradual shift of dynamic as Gregor’s transformations progresses. From Gregor being the sole provider reciving praise, to Gregor being completely dependent on his family and resenting them. Gregor’s family starts off dependent on Gregor and grateful. Then Gregor’s family is forced to care for him and grows to resent him. In the end the family dynamic shifts back to its original status. The Metamorphosis illustrates that the family situation may change, however in the end the individuals are true to their original nature returning to their original roles. Before the transformation, Gregor is the sole provider for his sister, mother, and father. While also baring the burden of paying off his family’s debt.
