Max has a very guilty conscience. Max’s conscience is so foggy because he is asking a lovely family, the Huberman's, to hide him; If he is found, they will be killed alongside him. Max thinks on page 169 “How could he do this? How could he show up and ask people to risk their lives for him? How could he be so selfish?”
While Killer Kane holds Max hostage in a dark basement the conflict between the two characters appears. This conflict between the two characters leads us to the theme. The theme that was demonstrated by that piece of text was you can't trust anything
Throught the the book John McNab can be a very intimidating, shocking and bold character. He has also shown to be very mean, cocky and bold. On page 23 when Maniac goes up to bat McNab says, “Okay runt, number thirty-six coming up.” McNab is sure that he will be able to strike out Jeffery easily and is not afraid of anything going wrong. This shows me that he is sure he can beat anyone in his way when he is on the pitching mound.
A theme that Rodman Philbrick develops throughout Freak the Mighty would be, “Friendship is a powerful thing.”, because even though Max and Freak were completely different, they still changed each others lives forever. For example, “Just write it all down, put in all the fun we had, all the cool things we did, all our adventures…Just tell the story of Freak the Mighty.” Clearly, Freak wanted Max to write the adventures of their unique friendship because even though Max couldn’t read or write, Freak had fate in Max and was assured that he could do it. The theme that Rodman Philbrick develops throughout Freak the Mighty connects to this because Max was a dim-witted guy who couldn’t read or write. But because of his friendship with Freak, he was
In this quote we see that Kane has gone from a strong and brave Marshall to a scared man who doesn’t want to die “Kane’s hand - as it writes last will and testament” (Foreman 325) this shows that because Frank is back he is scared and thinks he will die, so he is writing his will. This is similar to what happened to Rainsford. In these two quotes it shows how he was a brave strong game hunter, but then is scared and unable to do anything “don’t talk rot, Whitney you’re a big game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels” (Connell 212) showing that he is a strong hunter, but then he it says “Rainsford knew now how an animal at bay feels” (Connell 231) this quote shows that he is now scared and is unable to do anything, and this shows how he is not powerless and scared just like Kane. These two people are very different, but they have very similar qualities and
His appearance is a very intimidating guy that seems that he can do some damage. In fact when we first see Killer Kane Max is sleeping in his bed and someone is breathing right beside him that states ‘’Don’t say a word, boy’’ he whispers. ‘’Not a sound’’. ‘’I came back’’ he says. ‘’Like I promised.’’
The day in the book is Christmas. 2. Why does Loretta visit Max and Killer Kane? Loretta visits Max and Killer Kane, to give them a box of leftover pizza.
This gives Freak the Mighty time to escape the wicked Killer Kane. Another example of how much Max cares about Kevin is his reaction to Kevin's death. He walked into the ICU and was looking for Freak, one of the nurses looked at Max and was frozen in sadness and sorrow. Max wondered why she was standing still. Once he realized something was wrong with Kevin, he started breaking glass and pushing down nurses trying to get to where Kevin was.
“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by lions” Alexander the Great. Killer Angels the historical novel by Michael Shaara details many great lions of leadership. One of these great lions of leadership was Joshua L. Chamberlain, a colonel of the Union army. Chamberlain coming in to a leadership position after acting as a professor led to him becoming a great leader through his personality characteristics. These included how he was a decisive and intuitive leader, an understanding leader, and an intelligent leader.
The Mighty Freak was an amazing friend to Max and changed his life for the better. From the beginning the novel Max is not the smartest person, so Freak gets chosen to tutor him. He gets tutored for almost the whole school year, but after that Max can finally read, write, and do math. That’s one way how Freak is a good friend to Max. Also, later on when Max’s dad and Max are having a fight Freak comes in and sprays chemicals in Max’s dad’s
The standard way of thinking about friendships is that all friends are the same. That could not be further than the truth. My best friends and I are polar opposites. My friends and I all believe in letting each other be ourselves, that is why we are best friends. Savanna is a Netflix queen she loves TV, and never see her without her phone.
Max then depends on Freak to tell him where to go, and just focuses on the ground. When Max’s father showed up in the middle of the night to “take Max with him”, Freak does the brave thing of helping the police look for his best friend. As the police find Max and his father, Killer Kane, Kevin stands up tall and sprays Kenny with a concoction that burns when it touches Killer Kane’s eyes. After the struggle is over Kenny Kane is arrested and is sent to jail for the murder of Annie Kane, attempted murder of Loretta Lee, and attempted murder of Maxwell Kane. Many friendships are formed by helping someone in need, like how Freak helped
One by one they climbed into the ring and beat him down. They made him bleed. They let him suffer." (Zusak 254). Max is struggling to understand that he's a Jew, doesn't understand why people hate him and why people follow Hitler.
Being the first one in my family to go to college I had to like up to big expectations. I was the first for everything and that was a challenge particularly for me. I ended up going six hours from home and would just change the experience that I have had for the world. I have learned so much about myself as an individual and I feel tremendous growth within myself. Although this experience has been a good way for me to grow and reevaluate what I want to do in my life, I feel as if I have grown out of where I am at right now.
Abstract: In most parts of the world, females have always been the victim of oppressive patriarchy and male chauvinism since ages. This problem has been represented by many people through various forms of creations be it art, literature or films. Films are the most popular visual mediums of entertainment through which a large segment of people can be approached. Like literature, a film is also a work of art which mirrors the society, it also depicts the reality of the society though it has some fictionality in it.
