Do you have a special friend whom you have shared adventures with? The book Freak the Mighty, written by Rodman Philbrick, is a story about two kids who are considered different and don 't have any friends. Although they are complete opposites, they end up being the best of friends. The story is about their journeys and adventures and how their friendship became even more important to them then their own families. Therefore, the theme of Freak the Mighty is friends can be more important than family.
In the two books Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick and The Friendship, by Mildred. D. Taylor, the main characters brought positive change when they were vulnerable. In both of these books, people were vulnerable, but were able to bring positive change, whether it be to either themselves or others. In life, everyone at some point in time is in a tough position, but you can always bring positive change, no matter what the circumstances may be. For example, in Freak the Mighty, one of the main characters, named Maxwell, befriended a peculiar kid named Kevin that was much more intelligent than him, but was very small and was not very mobile.
In the novel Lord of the Flies, it is obvious that the character Jack is the savage compared to all the other boys on the island. Jack is the cause of all the arguments and death that will later occur on the island. Many of the boys on the island are scared of Jack when he acts cruel and selfish. This makes them join his group, so they don't have to worry about getting hurt. During a group meeting Jack says “We shall take fire from the others,” (Golding 161).

Think Like a Freak “What’s Your Problem?” Jayla Helton ECON 202 Summary In this chapter, one will learn that we tend to pay more attention to what others think of us, rather than what we think of ourselves.
William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, is a classic novel about a group of schoolboys stuck on an island where fear and savagery consumes them. From the beginning of the book to the last page fear has a prominent role in the novel. Fear in the book manifests itself with many thoughts including what the littluns refer to as the beast, and the fear of not getting home. Fear leads some of the boys to make regrettable decision and it also leads Jack to a position of power. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding fear dominates the island that the boys are stranded on and this fear leads the boys to positions of power and influences some of the boys to make regrettable decisions.
In this quote we see that Kane has gone from a strong and brave Marshall to a scared man who doesn’t want to die “Kane’s hand - as it writes last will and testament” (Foreman 325) this shows that because Frank is back he is scared and thinks he will die, so he is writing his will. This is similar to what happened to Rainsford. In these two quotes it shows how he was a brave strong game hunter, but then is scared and unable to do anything “don’t talk rot, Whitney you’re a big game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels” (Connell 212) showing that he is a strong hunter, but then he it says “Rainsford knew now how an animal at bay feels” (Connell 231) this quote shows that he is now scared and is unable to do anything, and this shows how he is not powerless and scared just like Kane. These two people are very different, but they have very similar qualities and

Throughout the novel, Freak the Mighty author Rodman Philbrick creates a strong friendship between main characters Maxwell Kane and Kevin Dillon, also known as “Freak”. Throughout the story, the author presents characters who change the reader’s perspective on how to view people. When Max and Freak meet a minor character named Loretta Lee, their first impression does not show her true colors. Also Freak and Max defy odds and teach each other that it is what is on the inside that counts. Altogether they learn that one should not judge another by first impressions or
Since the beginning of time, all humans had one basic instinct: to survive. Through time, we have evolved, adapted, and flourished. Recently though, we have forgotten our primal instinct. People are being persecuted and sentenced to prison for breaking a law in order to survive. In life or death situations, people shouldn't be held accountable for their actions.
I have been fascinated after getting the privilege to read the book, Think Like a Freak by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Having read the first five chapters, namely; What does it mean to think like a freak? The three hardest words in the English language, What’s your problem? , Like a bad dye job, The truth is in your roots and Think like a child respectively, I have been able to gain a different insight towards approaching challenges in life. The chapters are not only educative but also captivating, and therefore a review of the sections would be essential.
Unintentional actions can cause awful accidents. This symbolizes how even kind people can be immoral. This concept is exemplified in the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck when Lennie doesn’t think through his actions. Another example of this is in Night by Elie Wiesel when the son runs away from his father to survive. Finally, the court case of Menendez v. Terhune the Menendez when they tried to justify the murder of their parents.
In this ECR, I will be explaining the compare and contrast part of the prompt, analyzing it, and describing the main character's goals. Im using the story Freak the Mighty and the poem Dreams. First,in comparing the poem "Dream" and chapters 6–10 of Freak the Mighty, both authors show that dreams are very important. For example, in the book Freak the Mighty, Freak, one of the main characters has an important dream or hope to be like King Arthur. On page 44 Max says “That’s how it started, really, how we got to be Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world.
The Crucible Literary Analysis The theme in a story is the concealed message that the author is trying to portray. The theme can be compared to a baby crying.
