In this ECR, I will be explaining the compare and contrast part of the prompt, analyzing it, and describing the main character's goals.Im using the story Freak the Mighty and the poem Dreams. First,in comparing the poem "Dream" and chapters 6–10 of Freak the Mighty, both authors show that dreams are very important. For example, in the book Freak the Mighty, Freak, one of the main characters has an important dream or hope to be like King Arthur. On page 44 Max says “That’s how it started, really, how we got to be Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world.“ It also says” Blade goes, “Hey what?” and he moves right in front of Freak. “Want to say that again, little freak man?” Freak says, “Cretin. In the poem, the author emphasizes that dreams should be important. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow. This means that you should hold on to your dreams and not let go, that it is important. The difference between both authors' views is that in Freak the Mighty,Freak had a dream to be like King Arthur; that's why he always went off Max's back like he was a horse,so he’s living his life like his dream with no care in the world. Then in the poem, the author is giving you a warning because it says, "Hold on to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly." This part of the poem is giving you a warning: Hold on to your dreams, or you will be heartbroken or sad. Next, In the poem, the author conveys a warning to hold on and live your dreams before it's too late. Probably because the author has Whereas in the book, Freak showed courage and boldness and lived out his dream. Even though he had a medical condition,he didn't wait to experience his dream.
