The French and Indian War
At first glance, both websites present me with two different pictures, two different stories, and two different points of view of a dramatic time in history that would forever change the way the United States of America would come to be.
I chose to compare History.com and Britannica.com manly because I wanted to see the difference, if any, in an American based website and a more British based website on the topic of the French and Indian War. A war between the French and the British over territorial claims which took place in North America. Needless to say, most of the information found on said websites was almost identical. To my surprise, the information was pretty straight forward. It gave the reader what they needed to know about what caused the war, important dates during that time period, the French and British leaders at the time, defining battles that changed the direction of the war, as well as how the war became to an end. They also included a picture depicting the French and Indians during a battle. Unfortunately, they failed to provide a description of the picture so I don’t really know what battle the picture was really depicting or even when the picture was supposed to describe. They did provide a couple of informational short videos about the “Demise of the Anasazi” and “The Buffalo and Native Americans”. I’m sure one way or another the videos provided relate in some way or form but the article I read said very little of the Native Americans. It would have been nice to have a little more information about the Native Americans participation in the war seeing as how it was named The French and “Indian” War.
