After coming home from school, Victor sat on his desk with the three French books piled on it. He opened up the first book and turned to the first page. On were the words, “French For Beginners: Volume One,” printed in huge bold font. As he skimmed through the pages, Victor’s heart pounded. He had promised to help Teresa with her French homework tomorrow, yet he couldn’t understand even a single page of this! “What a mess I’ve gotten myself into,” Victor mumbled. “What if I can’t help Teresa tomorrow and I mess up my plan?
