In William Shakespeare's dramatic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, He tells the classic story of two star-crossed lovers and their ultimate, felicitous demise. While these characters are supposedly deep in love, there were two people in particular that guided their relationship into its final form. Friar Lawrence and The Nurse helped Romeo and Juliet be together, and although it worked, it was morally wrong. Romeo is the young son of Montague and Lady Montague. “Impulsive and immature … [yet] intelligent and sensitive” at the same time (Prologue 9). His closest confidant, Friar Lawrence plays the role of a noble mentor in his life. Juliet is the daughter of the Capulet family, Montague's bitter rival. Given their personalities, they are naturally drawn to each other, but not without help. Both Friar Lawrence and the Nurse aided their relationship, but their main goal was to settle the infamous feud of Montagues and Capulets, bringing peace to Verona. Friar Lawrence is asked to officiate their wedding, and not only accepts, but encourages it, “Just come on, inconsistent young man, come with me. I'll help you with your secret wedding. This marriage may be lucky enough to turn the hatred between your families ” (2.3.101). This line shows that the Friar is trying to marry them in secret, hoping to end the familys’ feud. Later, he also helps Juliet with her plan to fake her death, providing the potion and eventually breaking her out of the tomb. Friar Lawrence is not the only person to help with their clandestine affair. The Nurse, Angelica helped Juliet, but truly wished for her happiness, as she was a close companion. The Nurse acted as a proxy for Romeo and Juliet, delivering messages and scheduling meetings to reinforce their love. Later in the play, the Nurse betrays Juliet because “since the case so stands as now it doth, I think it best you married with the county.” (3.5. 217). What she means in this line is
