In the play Romeo & Juliet written by William Shakespeare, two young noble teenagers meet at a party and within a span of 5 days fall deeply in love. They proceed to get married in secret by a priest named Friar Lawrence who is well intentioned but ultimately causes a string of events that leads the two lovers to kill themselves when they learn they cannot live without each other. He leads Juliet and Romeo to believe they can be together again through Juliet faking her death, he fails to mention this to Romeo in time and causes stress and desperation for Romeo which leads him to decide to kill himself. Friar Lawrence is then to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence, first, helps Romeo and Juliet by planning a secret marriage unbeknownst to either of the ones parents. This was truly a compromising situation he put Romeo & Juliet in as the 2 families had long standing rivalries and did not associate with each other. His decision to marry Romeo and Juliet without consent of either families sets off multiple events leading to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. By marrying them, they are tied together, creating more intense feelings for the two star crossed lovers.
