Sometimes there are consequences for being too helpful and that is the case in the story Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence is the one to blame for the sad death of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the whole story, Friar Lawrence was trying to help the lovers but he kept many secrets from them and made a few mistakes like the letter not being sent and staging Juilet death. In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet Friar Lawrence is the one to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he gave Juliet the potion and the important letter that wasn’t sent to Romeo. Some may say Friar Lawrence did the right thing by telling Friar John to send the letter to Romeo but he shouldn’t have told someone else to do it because he is one of the closest people to Romeo. Friar Lawrence should have considered thinking more deeper on how to send the letter because Friar John was locked in a quarantine house because of the Black Plaque.“Who bare my letter, then, to Romeo”(V.ii)? Friar Lawrence asked Friar John if he sent the letter to Romeo but he couldn’t because of the plague. Friar Lawrence should have delivered the letter himself because he is one of the closes people to Romeo and he should have been accountable to send the letter and not putting it on someone else. If Friar Lawrence was responsible for informing Romeo he would not have traveled to see a dead Juliet. The cause of Friar Lawrence not sending the letter himself was Romeo going a little crazy and going to visit Juliet who he didn’t know was not actually dead.
