In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, many people could be blamed for the multiple deaths, but one man was extremely careless.. Many people believe that Romeo is to blame because of his ignorance and pride. Others blame Juliet for the tragedy because she was secretive and headstrong. And most people blame the parents of Romeo and Juliet for their ignorance and pride when it came to their children. I blame Friar Lawrence for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet because of his many unsettling interactions when he aided Romeo and Juliet in their secret love affairs. This secret left untold conveyed and enhanced a fresh and unreasonable love.This event also led to secrecy within the two families, a secret that would prove to be deadly for many involved. “These violent delights have violent ends”(2.6.9). One of the victims of this secret was the young and strong Tybalt who was, soon after the secret marriage, slain because of his will to protect his younger cousin from his family's enemy that is Romeo and the rest of the Montagues. But when Friar Lawrence tells Juliet his plan he tells her to commit a false suicide. “If, rather than to marry County Paris, thou hast the strength of will to [slay] thyself, then is it likely thou wilt undertake a thing like death to chide away this shame, that cop’st with death himself to ‘scape from it; and if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy.”(4.1.72-77).“I’ll send a friar with speed to Mantua with my letters to thy lord.”(4.1.125-126). The Friar’s plan also has a fault in that the other Friar may not arrive on time to deliver the necessary message. After Romeo goes to attend his own funeral at the burial place of the Capulets, Friar Lawrence attempts to assist Juliet in escaping unnoticed. In the Friar’s hopeless attempts he ends up abandoning Juliet in a tomb with her dead husband. In her new husbandless state, Juliet takes her own life. After the star crossed lovers are found dead together along with the body of Paris at the mouth of the tomb, Friar Lawrence is found and explains his alibi.
