It is imperative to associate with friends who have a positive influence. With this in mind, a friendship can be the reason some college student chooses to consume alcoholic beverages or the motivation behind choosing not to. “College drinking is socially acceptable,” thus forming friendships with non-drinkers can significantly influence success at college (Dingle). Extreme alcohol intake can impact a student’s academics. Drinking can eventually be given precedence over attending classes, completing coursework and studying for exams.
