B. A hero is someone or something who helps others with an honorable purpose, or a person who possesses traits that others could see as the traits of a role model. In my mind, Frodo Baggins holds these heroic characteristics and, in the end, made choices to assist the well-being of his companions. Frodo’s efforts display that he is concerned for the future of all living things and does not act simply based on his own wants. For instance, when Gandalf questions Frodo of what he will do with the Ring, Frodo chooses to eliminate it. Though he would be destroyed if it wasn’t rid of, as well as others, it proves later that he did not do it to benefit only himself. Quickly, he pulled out Sting and stabbed Boromir with a vile glare of hatred in his eyes. A cruel smile came across Frodo’s face and he moved his hand towards the ring on his neck. “Don’t try to take my precious,” Frodo growled and pulled Sting out of his companion’s chest. Suddenly, an awareness came to Frodo. Before him sat the evidence of the Ring’s evil empowering him, for Sauron’s darkness had already spread far into the land. As sudden as his reason came, it was lost. Now he thought this Ring could bring him eternal life and power, so he decided then to make his way back to the Shire. He believed that since he survived the evil poison, without question he could endure the Ring’s corruption. A long journey awaited, yet Frodo wasn’t thinking of anything but his precious’ call. Meanwhile, the company decided Frodo deliberation had come to an end. At the river bank, they searched for Frodo. While they searched, they noticed the smell of blood in the air and soon saw why, for Boromir sat, dead, against a rock with a stab wound straight through his heart.
