As for the others, Augustine was sent to preach and do missionary work as well in the English nation along with several other monks for he was the servant of God (Bede, 78). Columba was born in Ireland and entered the monastic school where he studied and completed his training. He then went to the Monastery of Clonard that was governed by a monk by the Finnian, while at the same time he was ordained as a priest by Bishop Etchen of Clonfad. Columba then left to do missionary work after a major conflict with Finnian over copying a manuscript and founded a new Monastery in Ireland with 12 disciples (Adamnan, 81).

Columba was prone to making miracles happen that influenced as a result of amazement including multiplying a herd of cows, driving off an aquatic monster, ridding poisonous serpents after blessing the souls of individuals, and raising one from the dead -perhaps being one of his most amazing miracles. Days after Columba was converted to Christianity, one of his sons was attacked with a dangerous illness and brought to the very borders of life and death. During the celebration of the newly dead child, Columba prayed to God in the house of mourning and said towards the deceased body, “In the name of the lord Jesus Christ, arise, and stand upon thy feet.” At this moment of glory, the soul returned to the body and the deceased opened his eyes and revitalized and the people applauded with joy and glorified the God of the Christians (Adamnan, 84).
