In current news and for the past few years the topic of abortion has been a very prevalent and heated argument. Both sides to this topic argue over who is right and who is wrong, the liberal side believing that abortion should be legal while the conservative side believes that abortion is wrong and should be banned. There lies middle ground where certain people agree recklessness should not be cared for, but those who are victims of rape and sexual violence should be. Overall the topic is discussed often and is the center of many politicians campaign, by either abolishing it as a thing or by making it more affordable and available to everyone. In the article, Frum addresses the problem with abortion and why the rates are so high. He makes the point that it derives from the lack of care, but the way he states it makes it both effective and thought provoking. He brings up that Germany has “14 weeks of maternity leave, during which time they receive pay from the state” and that “Germany has one of the lowest abortion rates.” He makes the point that abortion laws are not strict in Germany as to provoke the thought that the laws mean nothing. His effectiveness in writing is established because he can bring up evidence in a manner that does not put it upon a pedestal. He draws conclusions based off of facts and past evidence such as the rate of abortion is directly influenced by the economic state of the US. Not only does he mention Germany but he also brings up the Netherlands 31% increase of abortion rate between 1996 and 2003. Frum not only provides the reader with facts that back his point, but also draw the conclusions for the reader and provide the analysis that allowed him to come to these
