A fugitive is a man or woman who fled and is in hiding to escape arrest or prosecution. Criminals who commit large-scale crimes, run and hide because they want to escape the consequences they have put on themselves. Many fugitives cross state lines hoping that it would by them sometime. This is very similar to “The Outsiders” the novel by S.E Hinton which has two fugitives, Johnny and Ponyboy who have run away because Johnny killed a man. Also in the article called, “PA cop shooting subject now federal fugitive” Has a man who shot two Pennsylvania State Troopers, killing one of them. In the newspaper article, “PA cop shooting” Frein shot at two Pennsylvania State Troopers and killed one of them. In both of these stories they killed someone therefore, they could be compared to each other by their actions towards the victim. On the other hand, they could be contrasted because of their motives. Johnny and Ponyboy killed a socs because they were defending themselves and each other, they were also young and confused. The police said, “Frien has a deep-seated hatred of law-enforcement.” This explains that Frein’s motive was more planned and sought-out than Johnny’s and Ponyboy’s motive. After murdering Johnny, Ponyboy, and Frein ran away hoping the wouldn’t get caught by the police, therefore making them fugitives. They both brought a gun with them, “Freins father said two-high powered rifles are missing from the family home” In “ The Outsiders” it says, “ The gun are loaded” This concludes that they both ran away with a gun from the police. However, why they ran away is different. Johnny and Ponyboy were young and scared and didn’t grow up in the best conditions. On the contrary, Frein is grown man who ran away over state lines with illegal
