As we previously know, the functionalist perspective focuses on a macro view of society. So, according to the book, sociologists who use the functionalists perspective concentrate on studying how media and technology influence how society functions. The book states that one must be aware of what media and technology do to a society. For example, chapter eight gives readers specific examples of this. Technology and media enable us to find information on the internet. When it comes to gaming, players can search up cheat codes if they are having trouble leveling up. If they have access to the internet, millions of responses will come up, and just like that they have the answer to the problem. Not only will gamers find information online regarding things about the game, but they can also learn how other players have finished the game by being able to communicate with them. Technology also provides a means for individuals to entertain themselves with new inventions. Now, ever since then, there are millions of online games available to choose from. Having a thirteen year old brother, I have witnessed how much he loves playing video games.
