Future goals specific to your major:
Often as I set goals I am reminded of various quotes or passages that I have heard. As I have began more seriously setting goals for my future studies and career, a quote from Bob Proctor came to mind. He stated, “set a goal to achieve something that is so big, so exhilarating, that it excites you and scares you at the same time.” I feel this quote expresses my feelings as I go forward pursuing my personal goals in the field of physical therapy. Over the last year as I researched physical therapy programs both nationally and internationally, I realized how much I would enjoy being able to teach physical therapy. In addition to being one of the top DPT programs in the world, currently boasting a 100% first-time pass rate on the licensure exam, UNLV has many additional opportunities available to their students. One of the opportunities given to their top students is a position as a graduate assistant teaching students and assisting members of the DPT program faculty. Not only would the program at UNLV help me achieve my goal of being financially secure in a more timely manner after graduation, but will also afford me hands-on experiences in presenting and teaching at the collegiate level. Additionally, I am planning on continuing my education after graduation from UNLV by pursuing a post-professional sports clinical residency to become a sports certified specialist. Through dreaming big and setting high personal goals I am captivated by the many possibilities my future holds. I look forward to the day I will be teaching my own class, or working with a diverse population of patients, helping them feel the exhilaration and excitement that accompany the setting, pursuing, and achieving of lofty personal goals.
