Future Growth: My Interpersonal Communication Course

Future Growth Although I have grown a lot during this course, I realize that I can still improve in a lot of aspects including developing relationships, learning more about privileges and diversity, and controlling the amount of advice given. According to Shankman (2015), positive relationships and deep connections with others are necessary for leadership and communication (p. 159-161). By becoming more aware of the necessity for deep relationships, I began trying to develop some relationships I already had. For example, I began trying to connect more with other classmates. While I think I started to connect more with others, I believe that I can still greatly improve not only my leadership and communication abilities but also my relationships in the future.

I now better understanding various strengths as well as improvements that can be made in the future. My strengths include empathy and authenticity with recent ones developed from the course include self-consciousness and listening. Although I developed some of my skills through this course, there are many aspects I can still work on including developing relationships, my knowledge of privilege and diversity, and analyzing the conversation for advice-giving. This course has also inspired me to create goals for the future that I have started development on but will need to continue working on to achieve such as learning other conflict resolution methods, controlling my emotions, and reducing the amount of blame I place on others. Overall, this course has greatly developed my understanding and execution of various communication and leadership skills that I will continue using and improving upon in the
