The Gallipoli campaign began when the Anzacs landed on Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. The campaign went for 8 long and exhausting months with 30 - 40, 000 casualties occurred. The soldiers at Gallipoli were constantly fighting the freezing cold, lack of water and food, the sweltering heat in some days and the diseases being spread around. A day to day life for a soldier was to make their country proud and to try and stay as healthy as possible in the shocking conditions. One of the most famous battles fought at Gallipoli was the lone pine battle. This particular battle was meant as a diversion from attempts by New Zealand and Australian units to force a breakout from the ANZAC perimeter on the heights of Chunuk Bair and Hill
