I give Michael Vey Battle of the Ampere 5 out of 5 stars because it was funny, descriptive, and emotional. Michael is on his own in the jungle with Jaime. Michael has to save his friends from the Peruvian army before they stand trial for terrorism, and could possibly get charged with the death penalty. Hatch and his electric children have taken over the ES Ampere (the Elgen’s headquarters) and now with full control of the Elgen fleet, Hatch goes to Peru to get his army together and starts putting his plan in motion for global domination. Michael and his friends have to stop Hatch, but Hatch already knows they are coming.
Gary Paulsen, the author of “Hatchet” describes one of Brian’s traits by using actions. As stated by this quote, “When he was done he covered the two piles with grass he tore from the lake shore to keep the flies off and went back outside”, (69) Brian used his surrounding environment to produce an answer for a complicated problem. An ordinary person wouldn 't thought of a solution as quickly as Brian did in this particular situation. The answer for this problem seems simple, after you have figured it out. Steve Sheinkin retells the story of the Atomic Bomb and important events involved with the bomb so it is easy to understand for the reader, rather than creating a story around it. He uses real interviews and testimonies from first hand witnesses, as well as primary sources of information, including FBI and government documents.

Marcus, a main character in the book Little Brother, was near the bay bridge in San Francisco when it was blown up by terrorists. He was blamed for it by the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). Due to the bombing, the city was put under heavy watch by the DHS and everyone was treated as a potential terrorist, especially Marcus. Throughout the book, Marcus fought against the DHS for the rights to privacy of himself and the civilians of San Francisco.

The Gilded Ones, by Namina Forna, is a fictional book about a girl named Deka, she was born with darker skin and impure blood, but in her village impure blood was not allowed, so she was beheaded by her father and became a demon. There can be some parallels drawn between the real world and The Gilded Ones. In the book, the characters face real world challenges and learn how to overcome them throughout the book. A parallel in the book is page 149, of the book it states “Our whole lives we’ve been taught to make ourselves smaller, weaker than men”. Brian Robeson, a thirteen-year-old boy from New York City, is the only passenger on a small plane headed toward the oil fields of Canada. Brian is on his way to spend the summer with his father, and he 's feeling totally bummed about his parents ' recent divorce. he doesn 't have much time to dwell on his unhappy family situation, though, because the pilot the only other person on the plane suddenly suffers a heart attack and dies.
The Hatchet is a intense survival story. The main character Brian is trapped in a forest after a bad plane crash. In the story, Brian used three survival strategies to lead him to staying alive in the forest and being able to face any challenges of survival. The strategies used are Trial and Error, Positive Thinking, and Observation. In the next paragraphs I will talk about the three main survival strategies Brian used to survive the forest.
