Gay marriage has been an ongoing issue for years now. Many different opinions from all kinds of people have arisen and discussions whether it’s right or wrong have been on dispute in the whole world, separating people onto those who support it and those against it. In the recent years, the tolerance have increased significantly and changes have been made to help the LGBT community, however traditional and truthfully mostly religious people are constantly opposing what they see as a sin. The media is trying to be unbiased on the issue, yet there are plies of interesting articles and opinions on this. I am going to investigate some of them to see the different representations of gay marriage and people.

This representation of gay marriage is similar to the second text, giving a more positive outlook on the issue, but is more focused on the arguments against and breaking them. From the beginning the article gives an impression of quite sarcastic and ironic tone because it uses a lot of rhetorical questions to allow the reader to think and possibly change their opinion about gay marriage. Most of the text is based on comparisons between the heterosexual and homosexual marriage, one of the arguments against being children, which to Kellard “it seems absurd to even suggest that it would be more beneficial for a child to be raised in an abusive home over that of a loving same sex couple”. The word choice is especially contrasting the descriptive adjectives “abusive” and “loving”. By showing the possibility of a child being in an abusive home, where it's clear that the child is in danger it gets an emotional reaction from the readers, especially mothers who can relate. So when it's compared with a loving homosexual family the idea seems more acceptable. As people who follow the law they don’t harm the society, so it gives people less arguments to oppose the idea of gay marriage that does not change their surroundings unless they are strictly involved within the LGBT community. Furthermore, he addresses the readers to let “consenting adults do as they wish”, where he doesn’t directly talks about gay people but could easily be talking about anyone, which again, blends the homosexual people with everyone else showing them as normal citizens that are no different than anyone else. He repeats the point that “homosexuals getting married has no effect on anybody but themselves”, which clearly states that they are no harm to anyone and everything is just going to continue as it does
