The simple storylines mixed with catchy music and detailed choreography result in an enjoyable and fun viewing experience. The worlds illustrated in musicals do not share the same social issues real society faces, and perhaps that is one reason why the genre remains popular even with the use of patriarchal gender roles. Grease is no exception from musicals that perpetuate sexism and use the male gaze to appease the audience while hindering strong female roles. Even with the one-dimensional characters and use of stereotypes, Grease and many other musicals remain well-liked by their female audiences because of the utopian worlds they portray and the pleasure found in the viewing
