Did you know Renaissance comes from a French word that means rebirth? Renaissance life-levels of power, authority, and responsibility was a huge concept back then and most definitely interesting to learn about. The power, authority, and responsibility that someone holds could be differentiated depending on the social class, gender, or age of the person. There were many different roles back then such as, lords, ladies, adolescents, nurses, friars, pages, and servants. This concept happened way back and is definitely not what most people go off of today. Most of the people back then worked a lot and had it pretty rough, but if you were a lord then you most like had it easier and loved being a lord. They would go to school, if they could afford it or they would get taught by their mother, then work right after school (Children's lives in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. (2017).They had no power or authority since they were controlled by their parents. Girls would be controlled by their parents until they were married (Gender Roles of Women in the Renaissance, (2016). The boys, on the other hand, would usually become a man between 18 and 25. The teenagers would learn how to be prepared for adulthood early since they did not have a long childhood and learning the basics of survival, learning how to do business, and housework was their main responsibility (Children's lives in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In fact, girls had a really short childhood because the earliest they could get married is age 14 which most of them did get married at that age (Gender Roles of Women in the Renaissance, (2016). Not only could marrige happen at this young of age, but if they committed a crime they could be killed for it and that went for both genders (Children's lives in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, (2017).
