DISCUSSION REFLECTION 2 Often enough co-parenting is dismissed as easy and without worry, due to the fact that the child has two pillars of support in these situations. Quite often, though, conflict still arises when stressors like low income arise. This article, by Carolyn Cowan and her colleagues, showcases a technique that has been seen to relieve stress on low-income co-parents. This technique is done by breaking up parents into an assortment of classes that allow them time to work and talk with an instructor about parenting. It is seen as a father that puts emphasis on the relationship by working on developing it by means of ethical, recreational, spiritual, and economic practices, as they mentor the child throughout their life. The fathers in this study were seen to use this model as the course went on. One example of this can be seen in how one of the father’s goes in place of this partner to change their baby’s dirty diaper. By taking on this responsibility this father shows how he is there for the child throughout its development as he works to strengthen their relationship.
