Genetic testing for a predisposition to a disease can be a simple process and can be beneficial to the prevention of life-threatening diseases. It has been done for a very long time with different strategies throughout its existence, including testing a small sample of DNA. It can also relate to literature like Brave New World. Genetic testing for a predisposition to a genetic disease is a way to find out the genetic information of a person including if they have a disease passed down genetically or not. Testing is done by looking at the family history and seeing if there is a disease that is passed down from generation to generation like diabetes and many forms of cancer. This would mean that the offspring would have a chance of getting the disease present in the family. Since genetic testing can be a very simple process which can happen at any stage of a person’s life, one can test the severity of their disease or they can see if the disease sparked and became active. This will also help people to make lifestyle changes as an individual or a pregnant mother with the disease in the offspring to help lower the effects of the symptoms. Genetic testing relates to Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. In Brave New World, at the start of the chain, they would have to test the original embryo that is the subject of Bokanovsky’s process to make sure that it wasn’t holding a disease since their society is based on people doing their job. They would have to make sure that the new batch of offspring wouldn’t have a disease because that would be hurtful to the flow of their society. They wouldn’t be able to withstand a whole batch of offspring dying because there would be no one replacing the spots of others passing
