The terms of the treaty were announced on 7th of May 1919 all of which horrified our nation, and outrage was sparked among Germany and as predicted the repercussions will continue to dwell on our great country for many years to come. The big three Wilson, Clemenceau, Lloyd George all negotiated a “fair” treaty in upon us but how could this possibly be fair if the country whom of which it was implemented on was not allowed to negotiate and terms whatsoever? Clearly, we were doomed from the very beginning. Not to mention the fact that George Clemenceau had seen the treaty less as a way to guarantee an everlasting peaceful Europe but an opportunity for revenge to cripple Germany. Our country’s future was divided into five main areas. The first being Clause 231 which although did not physically harm Germany, it hurt our pride - and it was this, as much as anything else, that made us want to overturn the treaty. forcing our nation to accept the blame for starting the war, not only placing resentment by the pure absurdness of such a statement but left us utterly humiliated. Not only is Germany not responsible,we were without an option simply defending ourselves from the great threat of European powers in 1914. When this ludicrous sum was announced it became clear that France and Britain did not merely sign a treaty but a death sentence to millions of children and citizens of Germany. Not to take into account our already badly declining economy it would leave Germany virtually bankrupt. In 1921 50 million was paid however In an attempt to save lives and the future of the nation our government refused to pay in the following year, but this only lasted until 1923 once they lost patience France and Belgium soldiers invaded the Ruhr region pillaging raw materials and goods which of course was accepted under the preposterous treaty of Versailles. The results being disastrous Germany's government orders the workers to go on strike so they were not producing any good for France. This sadly led to over 100 worker deaths a brutal response from the french and yet another devastating result for our nation. it led to a short supply of money so in turn the government simply printed more, however, this has led to an even bigger problem; hyperinflation a disaster that Germany is currently facing. Money is worthless and prices have dramatically increased. A family that was one prosperous in 1921 cannot even afford to feed their own family in these tough
