George is right about killing Lennie. Gorge killed Lennie because he was his responsibility. Curley would have tortured Lennie for revenge or if they ran away and went to a different town; Lennie would have done it again. George did the right thing for both him and Lennie. It was something that would have happen sooner or later. George kills Lennie because he is Georges responsibility. When Lennie was younger, his aunt Claire would have to look over him because he didn’t have enough sense to know right from wrong. George told Claire that he would take care of Lennie when she died. George told Curleys old man that he told Lennie’s wife that he would take care of him but he really meant Lennie’s Aunt Claire. George and Lennie both have the same dream together and every time Lennie would get in trouble George would get him out of it. When George told Lennie about their American dream, Lennie would interrupt and say ''But not us!'' (Steinbeck 14). meaning we got each other. George and Lennie knew each other for a long time and if someone had to have killed George. It should have been Lennie. Curley didn’t care about his wife getting killed; if he did he would have stayed with her instead of looking for Lennie. Curley just wanted straight up revenge for Lennie showing him up in the bunkhouse. If Curley would have got to him first he would have made Lennie suffer for what he had done. Slim said, ‘’You hadda, George. I swear you hadda.’’ (Steinbeck 107) What Slim meant was that George did the right thing and didn’t let Curley make him suffer.
