As the father of his country, George Washington has acquired dozens of tributes in his honor. Cities, roads, lakes, highways, mountains, schools and an entire state have been named after him. The Washington Monument is one of his most recognized acknowledgments located in Washington D.C. It has been standing in the nation’s capital for about 129 years.
