Throughout the years, there have been many good and bad speeches written and spoken by Presidents. While researching, there are many good speeches written by Presidents in the older days such as Washington’s Farewell Address written in 1796 by George Washington, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address written in 1863 by Abraham Lincoln, and speeches written in the last few years by our current president Barack Obama. This paper will attempt to show you many of our most famous speeches written by our Presidents and the meaning or significance of the speech. To achieve this goal, this paper has been organized my paper to explain the old and the most current Presidential speeches. In each paragraph, I will start to explain why the speech was written then I will start going into detail describing what the speech actually means. I will talk about the oldest Presidential speeches and explain what the presidents were talking about in the speech. Then, explain about the most current Presidential speeches and explain what each speech means. I will conclude this paper talking about how the Presidential speeches have effected us citizens in good and bad ways. Kennedy's Inaugural Address. His speech took place on January 20, 1961. People were thinking about cancelling the inauguration because heavy snow fell the night before the inauguration, but they decided not to. The main purpose of the speech was to motivate or inspire the citizens of the United States. That basically means that he tried to gain the nations strength and inspire them to serve their country.
