The best US President, in my eyes, was George Washington. He was a strong character who had to overcome many things in his life. One of the greatest things he had to overcome was unknown to many people. George Washington suffered many illnesses such as: Diphtheria, tuberculosis, smallpox, dysentery, malaria, tonsillitis, carbuncle, pneumonia, and epiglottitis. Regardless of his disease, George Washington was always doing things for other people. In fact, George Washington put out the first Thanksgiving Proclamation. Thanksgiving had been celebrated from European settlers in North America for centuries, but George Washington finalized it by designating November 26 as Thanksgiving, nationally.
