Georgina And Gabi In the story, ‘Gabi, A Girl in Pieces’ written by Isabel Quintero, we get to see the main character, Gabi, A young hispanic girl go through her senior year of high school and we get to see the many ups and downs she faces in her life. We also see the many different and interesting relationships she has with the people in her life. One of the more interesting relationships was one with a girl in her grade named Georgina. Though we can see that it begins rocky, seemingly with no promise, it takes a full 180. This relationship is interesting because it is the classic story of a bully that becomes a friend. Georgina gets caught having sex at school and has to deal with her father who is not happy to hear that to say the least. 17 days later Georgina reveals to Gabi that she is pregnant. Gabi asks her if she had told her parents yet and Georgina tells her no and that her father beat her when he found out she had had sex and that if she told him she was pregnant she would potentially be fearing for her life. After their conversation Gabi and Georgina actually hugged. Later Georgina tells Gabi that she has decided to have an abortion. Eventually, Gabi and her boyfriend Martin Help Georigina by taking her to get the abortion. This whole event shows how kind of a person Gabi is that after Georgina’s constant disrespect she was able to put that aside and help another human who was in need. So from this point on Georgina and Gabi have a sort of mutual respect for eachother, “Today during lunch, Georgina came up to me and thanked me. She told me not to worry, that it had been better and that I had done the right thing,” (Quintero 218). It is clear to see that these two no longer had animosity between each other anymore that whole ordeal. We can see that Gabi no longer has negative feelings towards Georgina anymore and the same is true vice
