Daphne Odjig was born in September 11, 1919 to Joyce Peachey and Dominic Odjig. She grew up with siblings Stanley, Winnifred and Donavan in the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve (Manitoulin Island, Northern Ontario). Odjig was educated in art in Ottawa, then moved to Sweden to continue her studies. Her first major art piece was her pen and ink drawings of Cree people from northern Manitoba. In 1973, she became a founder of the Professional Native Indian Artists Incorporation, and in 1974 she opened the first Canadian gallery representing First Nations art in Winnipeg.

When the colonies were being established in the United States, there were struggles between white colonists and the Native Americans already living there. Mary Musgrove helped this improve this situation when Georgia was being founded in the seventeenth century. Her blended background gave her skills that helped her bridge both groups. Born in 1700 in South Carolina, Mary Musgrove 's original name was Cousaponakeesa. Her father was white and worked as a trader.
Mary Dyer was born in England in 1611. She married William Dyer and went to Massachusetts in 1635. She was a good friend with Anne Hutchinson and shared the same views; they were Quakers. She was the mother of 8 children, two died shortly after birth. Mary had a stillborn daughter that was deformed and they buried in secret, because it was believer that either if a women preached or listen to a woman preacher their child would be deformed or that the deformed child was consequences of the parents sins.
James Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia, was the one to lead English settlers to the colony. The Spanish were there originally, but 1730, when James led the settlers, the Spanish were mainly gone. James led the settlement as a refuge for the poor and debtors. He also made a multifaceted plan for settling and government called Oglethorpe Plan, which will be touched upon further in the governments slide.
Kametrea Williams was born February 1st , 1999 in Longview,Texas. Kametrea lived in various parts of East Texas until the death of her father in 2012. After her father's death Kametrea and her younger sister (Keeunsha) moved to Dallas, Texas to live with their Uncle (Undray Moore) and Aunt (Yolanda Moore). While living in Dallas Kametrea's Uncle and Aunt encouraged her to go to church and stay connected with the Lord on a personal level. Kametrea's eight grade year at Pearl C.Anderson she joined an organization called Turner 12 who's mission is to help students from various Dallas schools become first generation college graduates.

In 1903 Carrie Nation officially changed the spelling of her name to “Carry”. When she just a kid she lived on a large farm, and then she moved with her family to High Grove farm near Belton cass county, Missouri, Moved to Texas, then back to Missouri farm, then moved to Kansas City, and then back to the Missouri farm and lived Holder,
Mary Edwards Walker accomplished a variety of amusing and intelligent things during her lifetime. She first enrolled in the Syracuse College of Medicine. Although her father was the one encouraging these medical desires, Mary thrived in this specific school system. In the year of 1855 Mary graduated with a Doctorate degree in medicine. Her enthusiasm continued, along with the development of the rest of her life.
Georgia O’Keeffe was born in 1887 in rural Wisconsin, and by the young age of 10 decided she wanted to be an artist. She was taught by a local watercolorist named Sara Mann in her younger years, and went on to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1905 to 1906. In 1908 O’Keeffee stopped painting for 4 years because she disliked the more traditionalist style of painting she had been taught. She was inspired to paint again by Arthur Wesley Dow who taught a less traditional style. Her art progressed from this point, and she had her first solo exhibit in 1917.
On April 8, 1993, Ellen Ochoa was the first Hispanic woman to go into space. Ellen Ochoa was born May 10, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. She calls La Mesa, California her hometown. She is the third of five children, three brothers and one sister. When she was in her teens her parents got a divorce.
The Story of Maci Kean When you think of people in a kid’s life, you probably imagine two parents, siblings, friends, and teachers. What you don’t typically think is a social worker, a judge, foster homes and a dead mother and father. This became the case for the then 15-year Maci Kean, as well as over 100,000 kids in the United States. When Maci was just a toddler, she became deaf due to a high fever and her father passed away when she was just two due to drug abuse. When she was around the age of 13 her mother passed away as well due to a drug overdose after getting out of jail.
Ella Josephine Baker was born December 13, 1903 in Norfolk, Virginia (“Who Was Ella Baker?”, 2015). She grew up in North Carolina and developed a passion for social justice after hearing stories from when her grandmother was in slavery (“Who Was Ella Baker?”, 2015). Her grandmother often told her stories of slave revolts and how oppressive life was as a slave (“Who Was Ella Baker?”, 2015). Baker studied at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and was elected valedictorian when she graduated in 1927 with a degree in sociology (“Who Was Ella Baker?”, 2015). Baker began to cultivate her radical activism by protesting rules and policies of the university that were discriminating (“Who Was Ella Baker?”, 2015).
By the 1980’s, Atlanta was rapidly expanding past the point of containment, and quickly exploded with a mass immigration of penniless merchants. It wasn’t until 1993, with the construction of Georgia 400 was Atlanta alleviated from this rapid migration into the city (Huff). Georgia 400 offered the citizens of Atlanta, primarily those who could afford the new BMW 325i convertible, an escape from all the caged madness that was offered by overpopulation such as longer wait times at The Varsity or an extended five minutes to their trips to The Fox Theatre. In time, many of the Bentley owners migrated away from the crowding city and took their precious tax dollars away to invest into other counties. West Forsyth High School and the other schools in Forsyth now began to provide students with a library and could build a football field.
Cindy Graves is an African-American woman who is 5’3, light brown skin, reddish brown hair, freckles on her cheeks, and walnut brown eyes. She is a loving mother of two and has a cheerful and trust personality, willing to help others at a moment’s notice, and understands a situation and deals with is calmly. Cindy is an extreme people’s person, making connection with every person she meets. Friends and coworkers say that Cindy brings the light where ever she goes. Though Cindy has such a bombastic personality she didn’t have the perfect childhood.
Although some people might argue that Shirley Chisholm does not demonstrate leadership qualities, a closer examination proves that the former congresswoman was a strong leader because of her independence, perseverance,and willingness to take risks. Shirley Chisholm is a great leader because she blazed a trail by being the first African American Congresswoman. For example, “Chisholm indulged her maverick nature in a spectacular gesture. She became the first black woman to run for president” (Morin pg1).This proves that she was the first black individual in her field to run for president so this makes her a trailblazer because all leaders should possess this for the reason that no leader can lead from behind.
