Originating from India and traveling the world in search of better economic opportunities. A group of Rom traveling through Europe decided to settle down in Germany as early as the 15th century. The Germanization of Europe1 helped spread negative stereotypes which accumulated over generations and eventually culminated in their genocide during World War II. Today in Germany, there are continued anti-Roma acts of violence which can be partially attributed to the fact that the Holocaust “is still barely acknowledged by a majority” as pointed out by activist, Romani Rose (66). Despite being labeled as criminal and asocial pariahs and persecuted because of these convictions, they overcame and adapted to survive -- by any means necessary. What
