After the Ottoman Turks gained control of the Middle East, trade with Asia became difficult for Europeans across land. Many European explorers began searching for sea routes to Asia to renew trade. When explorers found the Americas, they had their mind set on gold to cope with the deteriorating European economy, but upon arrival and the realization gold was minimal, explorers enslaved many Natives and put them to work to produce another metal abundant in the area - silver. At the time, they really had no idea about the global impact silver would make. The discovery of silver by the Spanish in the Americas in the period of 1550 to 1700 brought about vast changes in economic exchange and production by making the world more interconnected through
First of all, I read the reading topics assigned in the "Learning Guide Unit 1" particularly the Boolean functions, Boolean algebra, different types of logic gates and its composition, truth table, etc. However, I followed all of the reading topics assigned. Apart from the reading topics, I also go through the video lectures. Then after, I attempted "Self-Quiz Unit 1", completed "Unit 1 Assignment" related to creating different types of Logic gates. Finally, took part on the "Discussion Forum Unit 1", commented on three colleagues' post, and graded them.
During the Age of Exploration Europeans hoped to subside the power of Islam and diminish its threat to the security of Europe by expanding and controlling global markets by reducing their market trade, although it was believed the Muslim world had entered a period of decline and turmoil with the collapse of the Abbasid Caliphate during the Era of the Mongols, on the contrary in the shadows of the Age of Exploration between the late Fifteenth and early Sixteenth century in the Middle East and South Asian subcontinent the rise of three great Muslim Empires, the Ottomans, the Safavids and the Mughals was occurring, the Ottoman empire being one of the strongest. 1. Constantine was a former soldier that was given the title of Cesare of the West (in the Roman Tetrarchy created by Diocletian), and was assigned to the furthest reach of the empire which was the English city of York. 2. Constantine issues the Edict of Milan which declared official tolerance for Christianity. He also demanded the Christians to change their day of worship from the Hebrew Sabbath to the Roman day of the Sun.
I have learned so much from my high school american history course so far and I’m genuinely shocked by how interesting the information we are learning is. When I generally think about history it bores me but when I started learning about history this year everything changed. I think it’s very important to know history because without those historic events we quite possibly wouldn’t be where we are today. So that’s what I will be trying to do.
The most thought-provoking book I read this summer was The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. Not only is this book fast paced keeping you with the urge to read but it also focuses on real events leaving the reader to wonder why it is said that history repeats itself. I chose this book to focus on because of the close connection the story seemed to hold to recent events in history. The Ebola outbreak was the center of the media’s attention recently because of all the harm it caused in Africa and the fact that a virus could be so destructive, managing a large scale outbreak, is a massive threat to life as we know it. My reason for taking AP World History was really quite simple.
In the Transcendentalists seminar I made an observation about a sentence in the text that I did not necessary focus on during my prepwork. By quoting, “hindered by the name of goodness,” I observed that just naming something “good” does not automatically make it “good.” Also, in my Into the Wild essay I tackled the topic of “postadolescent fog”- something that was strange and that I struggled to understand when I first read it. Another risk that I took was in the Poetry Out Loud competition.
I accept that everything you learn will help you in the future assignments; whether it is from learning from mistakes, or applying learned material to future
Some stuff of the things I did retain were useful such as how to write a rhetorical analysis, or how to annotate a source. These are both strategies I can use in a college setting
I learned how to formulate a restricted, unified, and precise thesis statement. I am now able to organize essay content into introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. I also learned how to construct and organize unified, coherent, and well-developed paragraphs. I am able to apply grammar and usage rules correctly and develop clear, concise sentences. I learned about parallelism, run-on, comma splices and sentences.
I learned new writing styles, test taking techniques, and how to be a true AP student. European History allowed me to see what else was out there. In life you need to be able to see the big things in order to know what 's really small and that 's exactly what the class did for me. Taking the risk showed me that if I was able to take AP European History, then I was definitely able to take a class like AP U.S. History, or any other class for that matter. It boosted my confidence and showed me what I was able to do for myself.
In the past, I have never known what to write down, so I wrote down nothing at all, or all the wrong stuff. Now I know to write down the main ideas, and then a couple supporting details. The last huge lesson I learned from College 101, was time management. I learned to use a planner and cut out time for classwork and studying. This will help me in highschool and college by ensuring that I get enough time to do my classwork and get good grades.
It's been said if you want to check yourself, explain the information to a fellow student. This help you know if you have understood the information. write down the important material to review it
I was wrong. After not doing so well on the first two exams, I could not figure out what was wrong. I reached out to my professor who agreed to meet me and go over my exams. She told me that I must use the text book rather than the lecture notes. Ever since I have used the text book my exam score had increased by thirty percent.
Major assignments -Work Projects- taught me how to write essays and include employed academic documentation (MLA). In this course, I’ve completed various reading assignments, did independent analytical thinking about what I’ve read, participate in discussions on what I’ve read, write about what I’ve read, and carry out research, this emphasis on reading was to show the importance of critical reading, and how it is going to benefit my studies. Understanding this academic essay structure, the use of rhetorical strategies in essay writing, writing a summary, formulating a thesis, and writing essays using rhetorical strategies. All these skills were the fruit of researching and
