According to scholastic.com Lisa Yee has written 14 stories. Also, according the scholastic.com Rachel Vain has written 30 stories. One story written by Lisa Yee is called “Girl Can’t Dance” which is about a young girl in middle school who gets famous and loses all of her friends because of it. Also, a story written by Rachel Vain is called “Good Enough” which is about a girl who cannot afford a shirt like everyone else has. “Good Enough” and “Girl Can’t Dance” both have many similarities and differences, including the character changes throughout the story and the mood of the two stories. Toward the end of the story the author also wrote,” You’re just jealous, maybe I need a new best friend- someone that can deal with my awesomeness, said Emma” (Yee 18). This is significant because it is showing the character changing over time. In the first example she is humiliated and upset about what had happened to her. And in the second example she is not realizing that she is changing and she is also not realizing that her friends don’t want to be around her if she is going to keep acting the way that she is acting, so the character is changing into a spoiled, mean person.In contrast, the character in “Good Enough” is changing into a thankful forgiving person.I know this because in the beginning of the story the author wrote,” After I dried my face, I hoped nobody could tell that I had been crying. I don’t care what is on the outside, it is what matters on the inside.
