Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi was an Italian Romantic composer primarily known for his operas. He was born in October, the actual day of his birth is a little blurry, and because during that time the day would begin at sunset so it is unsure. His records however indicate the 9th, which is why history books say he was either both on the date of the 9th or 10th. His musical career began very young in Busseto. It is to be believed that his family recognized his musical talent at a young age, which is why his lessons began at four years old. As he got older Verdi of corused pursued his musical career. The thought of opera isn’t the most exciting, so I felt as if I wouldn’t be too thrilled while doing some research, but I was so very wrong. I learned a few interesting things about opera. In opera, they don’t use microphones. That means learning how to project without the aid of amplification is necessary. Opera singers are required to have knowledge of many different languages, and more importantly, know how to sing in these languages. Something that most musical theatre artists will never have to do. Opera is all about tradition, and save for some specific instances like with cadenzas, you’re expected to not take personal liberties with the song. You are expected to sing the correct notes with the correct rhythm and not deviate from the written
