Nicolas Appert invented a way to keep food fresh even as it was sent across the equator. The method involved placing food in a jar, boiling it and sticking a cork in it, and this later led to the invention of canning which we see today. The idea that food could be processed and packaged opened up a new door to what we could eat and where we could eat it. When I say where we could eat it, I also mean in front of the television. TV dinners began in the fifties, but it was not until the sixties that everyone had a television and they became popular.

Etta is responsible for the fences and we can see this because she cares for it and planted seeds along its border because the fence means something to her, “Etta made the fence a boundary line.” To her the fences signifies ownership, a sense of privacy and private property doing it just “like white people do in Winslow”; on the other hand, to Reyna, Juanita and the other member of the community who follow the old ways, the fences are a representation of the difference between the Native American’s and the white American’s ways, they feel as if Etta has forgotten where she came from. The Early Industrial Revolution America in the 17th century was a time of exponential progress and innovation. The fledgling nation had now become a behemoth, and with thousands of new workers and immigrants flooding the U.S, they provided a reliable resource for cheap labor for the industrialist allowing them to create new technologies faster and more inexpensive . The stage was set for an early Revolution; not just a political one a industrial and manufacturing one. This boom was caused by a variety of factors such as a booming economy due to new trade routes and economic opportunities, government support in the industrial/manufacturing field, and a cheap workforce in the form of immigrants which caused an early development of manufacturing/industrialization.
Technological advances have greatly shaped our regions in many different ways in the throughout the 1700s. Geography and the resources have also affected technology during the 17th century in different regions to create an identity. During America's expansion time period, there were many breakthroughs in technology, which made the U.S stronger. Thus, making more regional individuality in different areas of the states with the help of technology. First off, technology in the 17th century was crucial when it was invented, becoming popular and in more demand because of how useful it was.
Late 19th century, the United States became the leading industrial nation in the world which transformed the national economy of the nation during the period called Gilded Age. The most influential development of this era were the new inventions of the inventors, who invented new ideas and new products which led to a rise of big business. The inventors mostly controlled the nationwide industries, factories and had much control over the government and people who owned small business. Because of these new inventions the American life was changed and there was a drastic growth in the urban areas, there were significant changes in the transportation, agriculture, communication, and there was a demand in the labor union because of the newly built factories and industries. The life of this era was seemed to be constantly in motion as big businesses were rising and the life of every American got busier and busier because of the newly invented products.
In “ The glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette was the main support in the Walls home. Growing up in a household where her father was an alcoholic and a childish mother, she finds a way to leave the nest with her siblings and become a successful adult. Initially, Jeannette was soft spoken and mature for her age, however over the course the course of the novel she spoke her mind and became successful and independent. In the beginning of the book, Jeannette was well behaved and acted mature for a three year old.
I grew up with imperfect teeth. I had a terrible overbite, my teeth were all crooked from my mouth being too narrow, and a few didn’t even grow in properly. I knew I needed braces, but didn’t get them until I was in 7th grade. Unlike Jeannette Walls, I did not go out of my way to create my own “braces.” Instead, I used retainers and rubber bands given to me by the orthodontist.

Imagine that you are walking when suddenly you come across a twenty-foot wall in the middle of your path. It is made of steel and concrete with security cameras perched along the top. You look at it and realize that there is not a way for you to cross this wall, so you turn around and head back in the direction that you came, back to the job and the life you know. On the other side of the wall a similar person approaches, but then turns away and goes back to their life. Neither one of you comes into contact with the other but you go back to the life you know, not interrupting or endangering the other’s life.

The glass castle in The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls can be taken as so many things at first thought. It could be symbolic or literal but you won 't know which it is until you read it. For me, I thought it was a castle they were trying to get to, like a safe haven. It turns out that the glass castle stood for everything the Walls family had worked for, you see this through the characters, their life in Welch and where they ended up in the end. Getting to know the characters was a very important part of understanding the importance of the glass castle.
