Throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s, imperialism affected numerous societies across the world such as Africa, Japan, Great Britain, Korea, and Asia. Imperialism extends and influences a country’s power to gain territory and effects society with the inventions of education, transportation with roads, bridges, and canals, and communication with the telegraph. Great Britain has all the natural resources (raw materials), markets, and cheap labors that others lack such as Japan. Joseph Chamberlain believed colonies were valuable to Great Britain because they would increase the demand for goods, develop new markets, and would give an opportunity to extend influence and control over Africa (Doc 1).
Imperialism was a big impact on the late 1800’s leading into the early 1900’s with counties like the British, Spanish, Russia, and Germany pushing to gain more land in different counties. This would lead to an arms race and the buildup which would lead into World War 1. Many different alliance were made if another country would attack another other countries would help with the fight. This would keep peace till the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
In the late 1800's, Americans were motivated to increase relationships with other countries. However, United States run into world affairs, and had to spread foreign policies in order to explain its interactions with parts of the world. There are three foreign policies that were created by presidents Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson. These policies conveys the roles of the United States in other nations.

The Monroe Doctrine could not tolerate Spanish control over Cuba, forbidding European intervention in the Western Hemisphere.
In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s America started expanding abroad to try and enlarge our borders. However this expansion ended up creating more problems for the US. In the end America lost more than they gained all due to American imperialism. Imperialism is when a bigger nation takes over a smaller or weaker nation. When America did this they thought it would make them stronger but it ended up making then weaker and causing them to lose the allies they once had before they imperialized the smaller nations that once trusted them.

This implies that a powerful state gains control over another state, usually seen as weaker, through the control of its economic, political and even cultural systems. The stronger nation exerts military, political, economic and cultural influence on the weaker nation. Imperialism was present in the United States during the 1800s and the 1900s. The foreign policies at the time begun to favor imposing American ideals on other nations.
The US was not always as big and powerful as it is today; there was a long journey to come this far. The US was a democratic republic and was built on a foundation consisting of a representative government that promotes individual freedom and liberty. As they strived to compete with the powerful nations of Europe on their way to becoming a world power, they had to abandon their isolationist ways and move toward a policy of imperialism. Their military and economic conquests showed a disregard for those very foundations with which their country was built upon. The way the Native Americans were treated dates back to Indian Removal Act of 1830.

With American Imperialism, the U.S. wanted to extend their reach into other countries for raw materials and more markets. Multiples forces in play here by the U.S. included Navalism, white man’s burden, and Seward’s Folly, all which had to do with Americans expanding both their power and white culture.

Many students look the other way when it comes to attending a community college because it comes off as second rate to them. To them community college is for those who aren’t good enough to attend a university.
The nineteenth century isolationism was a movement of the United States to become an independent nation. They did not want allies and they wanted to be their own country. Meaning they did not want to be part of the UN. A lot of countries at the tim were becoming independent at the time because they felt compelled as a nation to come together in union. A lot of countries did not realize at the time that because their was a strong sense of nationalism.

Through peaceful negotiations, as well as violent conflicts, the U.S.’s sphere of influence and control expanded across various bodies of water. Increased involvement with world relations triggered a shift in power from one side of the world to the other, which would lead to the establishment of the U.S. as a world power, or an independent entity powerful enough to bring change on a global scale. Foreign relations between the U.S. and other nations during the late 1800s and early 1900s increased and became more complex as their involvement within global affairs likewise intensified.
At the start of the 19th century, America was already expanding its territory. In 1803, the United States of America had bought the Louisiana Territory, it was bought from France which had made the country two times larger. In 1819 Spain had given up their territory of Florida to the United States. President Monroe issued the “Monroe Doctrine” in 1823, its main purpose was to warn the European countries to not enter the Western Hemisphere. In order for America to achieve its goal of becoming an imperialist nation they had conquered other countries economically, culturally, and with a strong military in the late 1800’s.

The most common example of globalization might be Ebay or Amazon. Nowadays flows of goods and services are not only cheap and fast, but reliable and secure.
