What is a watchman? To Kill A Mockingbird's Scout Finch, protagonist of the novel, her older brother Jem Finch and their next door neighbor Dill, spend most of their time playing games and spying on their mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. When their father Atticus Finch, a respected lawyer defends a black man, Tom Robinson, against hoax rape charges, the trial leads the town and the kids to many events to happen in their lives. The trial reveals to the innocent kids the many cruel truths of the world, like racism and stereotyping. Go Set A Watchman which was published the summer of 2015, takes place two decades after To Kill A Mockingbird. Go Set A Watchman is a continuation to To Kill A Mockingbird which tells us the story of Jean Louise Finch’s life, and how even though times have changed, the town has not. Although the characters have grown from To Kill A Mockingbird to Go Set A Watchman, the works remain remarkably similar in narrative style, theme, symbolism and the climate of the town
