Goal: The Dream Begins Gail Devers once said, “Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” This relates to the story because the main character tries his best to achieve his desires. Putting everything on the line including the risk of never seeing his family again for a long period of time. This leads to the concept, or theme of the story. The dedication of an individual, to be able to give up the important things in their life and commence to get more involved in what they believe in. Robert Rigby emphasizes the theme of dedication in the novel, “Goal: The dream begins!” In the book, the main character lives as a poor young kid, who spent most of his life playing his passion… soccer. At a certain point, an opportunity to be more professional came up to him and his family. He did everything possible to make that insignificant dream come true with the help of his family members. And even then I may not agree with you.” This exhibits how even if someone tells you to quit on something you are dedicated to, you should keep being persistent. This theme of determination helps the story deliver a message, in the way that the author is able to show the reader how this concept can apply to someone’s life.
