With change and challenges, port security as well as maritime operations have been dealt a tough task. Piracy is on the rise, and this challenge is faced in the United States as well as around the entire world. With ports and megaports a massive industry, there are need to protect the goods and services from Pirates and theft. Economic flow rely on the port security as well as safekeeping and management of all port facilities. Maritime operations and procedures have changed. Therefore, the security protocols and safety procedures need to follow these changes. With countless challenges, departments have in place regulations and laws that all vessels need to follow to prevent, protect, and combat against piracy. Maritime security protocol protects from piracy, however, this is only something that is protecting vessels and ships in water, this is not a deterrent to stop pirates from attacking ships.
