The role of what the news media should present us with has been questionable for many years. The role many would like is just a news site that just gives facts about what has happened without leaning to one side or giving an opinion on what happened. Although, in the current world we have built news sites should keep all government actions honest. Aaron Blake’s article on The Washington Post website about Kellyanne Conway’s interview with Chuck Todd, brings to light lies uttered by Sean Spicer during his first press conference. Good Night and Good Luck is a movie from 2005 about a news crew from CBS taking on the McCarthyism issue and their actions to make McCarthy honest.
This crew focused on Milo Radulovich being dishonorably discharged from the United States Air Force because he refused to disown his father. Milo’s father was said to be a communist by something that was in an envelope. Murrow says that the envelope was never opened, or shown to a jury of any kind. He says during his McCarthy special “We must remember always, that accusation is not proof, and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law,” (Quotes.) We can compare McCarthy’s actions to those of Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer’s ‘alternative facts.’

The news should keep the government true and honest. The actions of President Trump’s press staff so far have been questionable. Spicer’s ‘alternative facts’ were questioned by Todd, making Conway have to come to his defensive. Todd has made an effort to make President Trump’s administration to stop using lies to get people onto his side. Though, Conway’s methods of trying to get Todd off of what Spicer said only brought light into the problems with lying within the administration. Todd makes the effort to stop these small lies before they can lead to bigger more problematic lies further down President Trump’s time in
