IBM S/360
Introduction:
Few products in American history have had the massive impact of the IBM ® System/360—on applied science , on the way the creation workplace or on the organization that created them. Jim Collins, author of Goodness to Great, ranks the S/360 as one of the all-time top side three business accomplishments, along with Ford’s Manikin T and Boeing’s first jetliner, the 707. It set IBM on a path to dominate the computing device industry for the following 20 years.
IBM:
International Business Machines biggest PC organization on the planet. IBM began in 1911 as a maker of punch card classifying machines. In 1953, it presented its first PC, the 701. Amid the 60's and 70's, IBM came to command the new field of centralized computer and minicomputers. In 1981, IBM dispatched its first PC, called the IBM PC, which rapidly turned into the standard.
S/360:
It is Introduced in 1964 to replace three (!) incompatible families – 7090 fixed-point word oriented – 1401 decimal character-oriented – 1620 decimal numeric oriented with one architecture.

One OS (well, 5) – OS/360 big batch OS, no virtual memory – DOS/360 little batch OS, no virtual memory – DAMPS real time (360/44) – VM virtual memory for 360/67, 370s – TSS failure, virtual memory for 360/67.It has 8 models with almost identical ISP – (the 360 ISP).It’s performance range of 300:1 (!) micro programmed CPUs in Models 20 – 67. Its micro store times of 200 nsec - 1 msec. Its data bus widths of 1 - 8 bytes. Its memory cycle times of 7.2 msec - 0.75
