Jonathan Kozol, born in 1936 in Boston, is mainly famous for his work in the field of writing on the topic of public education. He completed his graduation degree from Harvard University. His work has made him famous in the world of literature as an activist who wants to bring change in the world of education through his writings. He has written many non-fictional books and article on the topic of education and on the lives of poor but his prominent work includes Death at an Early Age, Rachel and her Children, Amazing Grace: The Lives of Children and the Conscience of a Nation and many others.

I believe that the Kozol’s way of explaining the events buy dividing it in to two parts made the book more appealing for the writers. The readers will find it very interesting and I personally also find it more attractive while reading the book, as Kozol divided the book into two parts in which the 1st part contain the stories and problems of the children and families that didn’t get away with their issues and recession problems at that time while the other part is termed as the stories and issues of the survivors, that how they experience so many problems while surviving with the problems and how they take themselves out with teat span of time. The book covers the real events of Kozol with such children and how they moved in their lives from childhood to adulthood as the time span of the Kozol’s stay with such children and families was 25 years. I think after 25 years the government of US is also playing many of its contribution in the field of education and also in the rehabilitation of such families.
