Fifty Years in Chains, a real life story about Charles Ball. At the young age of four, Charles got stripped from his mother’s hands and was sold as a slave never to see her again. Charles went through a great flux of feelings throughout his life in reaction to the horrible struggles of being a slave, but he always seemed to find a way to stay hopeful. It all started when Charles’s grandfather was brought to the Southern States from Africa and was sold as a slave.
Hiram Ulysses Grant was born in Ohio, but soon after Grant 's birth, his father, Jesse R. Grant, moved the family to nearby Georgetown, where he opened a tannery. Growing up, Grant found that he hated the tannery business and lacked any business knowledge, which would plague him for the entirety of his life Luckily, Grant did find a good outlet for his energy at West Point, which he entered at seventeen. Not only did my high school principle go through this very scenario, but he also did it with a smile on his face while changing many lives in the Lincoln County community. B. Credibility Material: Growing up witnessing his every daily life, I am able to tell about this very man. C. Relevancy Material: The commemoration of his life and the tragic struggles he went through in his personal life is enough to inspire us to never give up and to always stay positive throughout our lifetime. D. As the principle of Bogue Chitto High School, Mickey Myers was admired by many people in our community; the adversities he was able to overcome are an inspiration to all.
I whole-heartedly agree with Moran when she states that, “the absence of trust impedes effectiveness and progress” (99). People need to be able to rely on one another and feel that what they are saying has value. Also, teachers want to know that administrators are going to put into place the steps in order to reach a goal if that is what they say they are going to do. Finally, parents and students need to have trust in the system which is often difficult when the system has failed them in the past. Therefore, establishing and maintaining this trust in each other is paramount to running a successful student-centered school.

The Deaf community has been faced with discrimination all throughout history. This has made it difficult for Deaf to people to find jobs and has spawned many false misconceptions about the Deaf. One the most famous people to discriminate against the Deaf was Alexander Graham Bell. Bell wanted to eradicate sign language, stop Deaf intermarriage, and in effect squash Deaf culture (Signing the Body Poetic). Bell played a major role in discrimination against they Deaf but in the end the Deaf culture persevered threw it and became stronger.
A short story "The Bell-Tower" written by Herman Melville tells about the architect Bannadonna, who is building a tower with a bell for the city. Bannadonna is an ingenious architect who does not count on human sacrifices, extolling his creations over the rest. In this story, the author sought to show the image of a man of art, for which the recognition of his genius is the principal goal. One of the themes that the author raises in "The Bell-Tower" is the relationship between a man of art and his creation.
Build positive relationships with students will help establish a more comfortable classroom environment. Michie have put a great amount of effort at trying to get to know his students on a more personal level, such as through individual home visiting and personal questionnaires about each student’s likes and dislikes about school. In order for students to feel that the information is relevant to them, teachers should make connections and relate to real life examples. Michie uses his past classroom experiences to connect to his students and further sparks class discussion. Michie would try to relate to what the students were going through in their lives to get to know them better.
On November 9, Mead School District held the fifth school board meeting of this academic year. Running the meeting was Superintendent Tom Rockefeller, President Board Director Ron Farley, Vice President Board Director Denny Denholm, and Board Directors, Maureen O’Connor, Robert Olson, and Carmen Green. All of the directors were recently re-elected, excluding Maureen O’Connor who isn’t up for re-election until next year. Due to this, there was an almost celebratory feel to the meeting, with many of the Directors, especially Vice-President Denholm, making jokes and being conversational with the small audience. At the meeting, I was the only person attending that was not giving a presentation to the board.
I had the pleasure of visiting with Mrs. Cooke’s fifth grade class during my clinical experiences. Mrs. Cooke has a great rapport with her students and has very little difficult actively engaging students in learning. One of the “takeaways” from my visit references the students’ and teachers’ commitment to the principles of “The Leader in Me”. From a school-wide perspective, East Elementary School does not practice the traditional positive behavior interventions. Instead, the administration has adopted the ideals and principles behind “The Leader in Me”.
The teacher helps out with after school detention/seminar (the students can come and get help with projects/homework). After the classes were done, I got a tour of the building from my cooperating teacher. I was introduced to many different teachers and other members of the faculty at the school. Today, was also a quiz day for some of the students, so I was grading papers. I observed that the smartboard was used as a PowerPoint or Google Slides, and I can not wait to see what else the teacher will be using.
I started doing my field Experience in Lime Kiln Elementary school where I shadowed Mr. Mikalov, a fifth grade teacher, When I first walked into his classroom it was so colorful and full of artworks, student works and inspirational quotes I felt happy walking into his classroom so I would imagine what a fifth grader would feel like. Mr.Mikalov was very generous in showing me around the classroom where they have their group work, reading area on the rug. He showed me the schedule they follow every week, they do math every day from 12:13 to 12:55 and have lunch every day at 11:26- 12:08 and off course I took a picture of it to know when and what they are doing that time. Mr.Mikalov introduced me to the principal who is very nice and welcomed
