The memorable day in my life is when I started Detroit Job Corps. I was nervous and happy at the same time. When I woke up that day my stomach had butterflies in it, and I was sweating like it was summer time. My face felt hot, like I was going to pass out. My mother cooked a huge breakfast for me.
My favorite memory with my mom is when we took a cruise the day after christmas. It was my favorite time with my mom because I got to spend a lot of time with her. On the cruise we got off at a stop in the bahamas and we got to stop at a bunch of different shops. Then we stopped at a beach and we swam and scuba dived and hung out on the beach. We got to spend a lot of time with each other without or phones distracting us.
Michael Harrington’s most infamous book, The Other America, brought a new perspective to an ongoing issue in America. This “other America,” is a place that no one would see on TV or in a magazine. This “other America” is the percentage of citizens around America who live below the poverty line. In America, poverty was a problem that most people overlooked. It was either overlooked because most people thought that it was a situation these people chose to be in or because people were blind to the fact of the true conditions of poverty and what it actually meant to live there.
When the roll is called up yonder is being chanted by thousands of mouths all packed into a stadium like building. Some people raise their hands in the air swaying back and forth. One man in the audience is playing a saxophone and he bumps into several people as he honks out a sweet simple tune. But few people take notice of the saxophonist because they are fixed on the man leading the ceremony.

The best day I have had recently was going to Six Flags in Agawam, Massachusetts. Six Flags is a huge amusement park with some really wild rides. My uncle drove me, me, my sister, and my cousin there. It took about an hour to get there from home, which is in Worcester, Massachusetts. We all went on some seriously scary rides.
In America we have a lot of freedoms. I think that us Americans don't realize how lucky we are to have the things we have and i think we need to be more aware of that. We are free to do most things we want, and we each need to be thankful for our lives as Americans. Also we need to be unique in our own ways. We all need to be leaders and not followers.
Earlier this year I had to write an essay on “American Exceptionalism”, this term was coined by was coined by Alexis de Tocqueville, the French historian and author of Democracy in America. For this essay the purpose was to critically think about the term “American Exceptionalism and determine for ourselves whether America was exceptional or not. I came to the conclusion that America is exceptional, but my America is not the America others see. I can appreciate everything this country has done for me, whereas others have a hard time appreciating America. These people aren’t anti-America, they’re America’s marginalized.
