Great apes’ such as bonobos, chimpanzees, and gorillas perspective—talking skills has increased throughout the years. The hypothesis they’ll be investigating will be the prediction that bonobos, and chimpanzees show a greater understanding of the role of barriers in visual perception than would other apes. The method involves a long procedure and setup for their experiment, they had many different subjects of apes housed indoor and outdoor at the Leipzig Zoo, Germany. The design and method of this experiment was to set up four conditions resulting from crossing the variables of target presence and barrier type. The window-target condition was the same as opaque target condition, but the pair of opaque barriers was replaced with window barriers. The window/no-target was identical to the window-target but had no pictures set on tripod. Based on the results the subjects (gorillas, bonobos, chimpanzees and orangutan) all looked at the target location when there was a window than the opaque barrier conditions. Subjects also looked more at the window with a target location than no target at all. To summarize, overall data suggest that all the apes tested in this experiment except the orangutan looked more often to the target location than in the absence of the target (only with window barrier). Their results mostly support their hypothesis and I say “mostly” because their hypothesis only included chimpanzees and bonobos. The results showed that the gorillas were the same result. Orangutans rarely looked inside the barrier, regardless of what condition they were placed in. Based on figure 2.
