Throughout the centuries there have been different forms of theatrics; two of the widely known ones being: Greek and Shakespearean. Though there are similarities, there are many differences in the way the plays are staged, how the actors are dressed, and how religion and tragedy are being portrayed. In this paper, I will be finding the differences between Greek and Shakespearean theatrics, religion, and tragedy, while finding some of these differences in two of the plays I read during my Composition II class. The two plays I will be writing about are Bacchae by Euripides (Greek play) and The Two Gentlemen of Verona written by Shakespeare. During my Comp class I heard a little bit about the differences between Greek and Shakespearean plays, but in this paper, I will go more in depth with the research I will be using. I will find research on both topics individually and find out how each one would perform a play, the type of audience they would attract, and how their religions and tragedies differ in their plays. Once I find the sources I am looking for, I will compare the information and begin to write. If any of the information from the sources I found compare to the either of the plays I read, I will find quotes from the play that could contribute to the paper. In my research, I may take a closer look at the characters that mostly contributed to the tragedies, like Dionysus from Bacchae who caused most of the chaos, and Proteus from The Two Gentlemen of Verona who was the cause of all of the drama. Since, unlike many of Shakespeare’s plays, The Two Gentlemen of Verona was not really a tragedy, I will look at a couple more of Shakespeare’s plays that would actually be labeled a
