Greek Gods We've all heard of Zeus and many more gods and goddesses in Greek mythology. Yet, we don't know them or understand them and their power. Greek mythology has many different characters, with unique personalities. Each god and goddess has their own unique power and weakness. Three important and amazing gods and goddesses are Zeus, Artemis, and Aphrodite. Zeus, is an important god in Greek mythology. With his thunderbolt he can cause mass destruction yet also heal. Zeus is the supreme ruler with the power over anything he desires. ¨Nevertheless has was not omnipotent or omniscient, either¨ (Hamilton 21). She was known for her love and beauty. “The goddess of Love and Beauty, who beguiled all gods and men alike; the laughter-loving goddess who laughed sweetly or mockingly at those her wiles conquered; the irresistible goddess who stole away even the wits of the wise” (Hamilton 27). She was able to fool anyone with her beauty. “With her, beauty comes. The winds flee before her and the storms clouds; sweet flowers embroider the earth; the waves of the sea laugh; she moves in radiant light. Without her there is no joy nor loveliness anywhere” (Hamilton 28). She is known for being the daughter of Zeus. “She is the daughter of Zeus and Dione in the Iliad, but in the later poems she is said to have sprung from the foam of the sea and her name was explained as meaning ‘the foam-risen’” (Hamilton 28). Aphrodite has immense power yet she is also soft and fragile. “She is a soft, weak creature there, whom a mortal need not fear to attack” (Hamilton 28). In some poems she is shown as weak and loving but in others she is powerful. “In later poems she is usually shown as treacherous and malicious exerting a deadly and destructive power over men” (Hamilton
